How to Join the Pakistan Writers Guild, Sindh
If you are connected to literature and creative writing and wish to associate yourself with Pakistan’s most respected literary association, you may apply for membership in the Guild.
Types of Membership

| Regular Member | Authors or poets who have published at least one book or collection. |
| Associate Member | New writers or poets who are in the early stage of publication or have had works published in a reputable journal. |
| Life Member | Individuals who wish to become lifetime members of the Guild (upon payment of a special fee). |
| Honorary Member | Persons who have rendered distinguished services at the national level in the promotion of literature or culture. |
Eligibility
- For Associate Members, at least two literary works (prose, poetry, fiction, or essays) must have been published in a reputable journal.
- Must be a Pakistani citizen.
- There must be a record of literary creation in Urdu or a regional language.
- The applicant must provide verified details of publication or notable literary services.
Required Documents
- Completed application form (can be downloaded from the website menu or obtained from the office).
- Copy of national identity card.
- Proof of literary services (book, publication, or link).
- One passport-size recent photograph.
- Annual fee of Rs. 100 (for Regular Membership) — along with the receipt (if paid online, proof must be submitted).
- Fee for the Guild identity card: Rs. 150.
How to Apply
You can apply for membership in two ways:
a) Online Form Submission
- Fill out the form provided in the website menu and send it via WhatsApp along with the required documents.
- Make payment online to the account number given on the website (the Guild does not take responsibility for any amount sent to other accounts).
- You may confirm the legit account details via the website’s linked WhatsApp number to protect against online fraud.
- Upon verification, you will receive a notification via email or WhatsApp.
b) Offline Submission (by Post)

Approval Process
Once your application is received, the Membership Committee will review it.
You may be contacted by email or phone for approval or additional information.
Approved applicants will be issued a membership card.
Membership Procedure – Additional Provisions
- Membership doors are open to every writer across Pakistan who writes in the national language or regional languages, provided:
- The applicant is a Pakistani citizen under the Pakistan Citizenship Act.
- The applicant agrees with the aims and objectives of the Guild.
- A Pakistani citizen living abroad may become a member of the Guild, provided they fulfill the constitution’s criteria; however, they will not be eligible to vote or stand for election in any committee of the Guild. On returning to the homeland, they will be counted as a regular member of the Guild of their residential province.
- Every member will be registered as a member of a single provincial Guild—no one may hold membership in more than one province at the same time.
- If a member changes residence from one province to another and wishes to transfer membership, they must inform the Secretary of their original province, who will then forward the information to the Secretary of the destination province. The destination province’s Secretary is obliged to admit them accordingly.
- A member from one province who participates in a session of another province will enjoy all rights of membership of that province except voting or participating in by-elections.
- Every membership application must be submitted on the prescribed form, endorsed by one proposer and one seconder from among the Guild’s members, along with one year’s subscription and entrance fee.
- Membership registration is considered complete only after provincial Executive Council ratification, which must take place within three months.

Our primary mission at the Pakistan Writers Guild, Sindh is the protection of writers’ rights and the promotion of literature in Sindh, Pakistan.
