Pakistan Writers Guild
Manifesto
We, the writers of all the languages of Pakistan, devote ourselves to the progress of our motherland, the dignity of our nation, the ideal of international peace, and the advancement of humanity. We believe in those fundamental human rights that are affirmed in the Charter of the United Nations. As writers, we uphold the freedom of thought, expression, and communication, without which creative literature loses its very purpose. We take pride in the noble traditions we have inherited from the past, and we pledge to preserve and further enrich them.
We are fully aware of our sacred duty:
to reflect truth,
to cultivate the values of patriotism,
to promote international brotherhood and cooperation,
and to strengthen human relationships
so that humanity may continue its existence with greater comfort, reassurance, and dignity.
As writers, individually and collectively, we accept our responsibility to work for the development of a prosperous and healthy society, one that offers free and equal opportunities to all, where wealth and authority remain subordinate to human values and spiritual ideals. For this reason, we consider the advancement of knowledge and science essential for fostering peace and prosperity in the world.
Adopted at the Founding Session of the Pakistan Writers Guild
